Chapter One
Jesus
The Spirit Realm
I WEPT TEARS OF SORROW as I walked the latest scene of death and devastation from the hands of The Man in White. He massacred over a hundred people at the direction of Lucifer for trying to help those addicted to various substances at a rehab center in their town. The people were actually making a difference in their community. Then Lucifer sent The Man in White to stop them permanently because he didn’t want any more people freed from his clutches of addiction. The Man in White made it look like a drug lord attacked out of retaliation for the loss of business, but I knew the truth, and the time had come for it to stop. The victims were a mix of men, women, and teenagers, but the one thing they all had in common was their innocence. None of them deserved to die in the way they did.
As I surveyed the scene in the spirit realm that was hidden from natural eyes, numerous police officers cataloged the area and made comments like, why would God let something like this happen? It was a question many asked when terrible things occurred on the earth to good people.
What many people did not understand were my ways, and I was patient with man and spirit beings alike. I desired for each and every one of them to spend eternity with me, and not in a fiery pit of Hell. I delighted in showing kindness even to the worst of creatures in hopes they’d see my love and would repent. I had used my mercy and grace and had drawn the masses to me, but certain individuals continued to push the envelope. They refused to turn from their wicked ways, no matter how many times I pleaded with them.
They proceeded on in their sin, uninhibited, with no regard for the kindness I’d shown them, but even I had my limits. History had borne the marks of my wrath, and they were there for all to see. I had removed kings and rulers throughout time because of their wickedness, just like I was about to do again. The Man in White’s sins had reached the tipping point after what he had done to those people, and the time had come for him to be dealt with.
That wasn’t the first scene of death I had observed by the hands of The Man in White. I wouldn’t allow him to take another life when his own life had been forfeited by his sin. My sorrow turned to anger as I summoned Gabriel by my spirit. Within moments, he appeared next to me. The two of us stood in silence.
Gabriel was speechless as he surveyed the gruesome scene before him. I could see he didn’t have the words to say, even if he wanted to speak.
I deliberated within myself. “Gabriel, thank you for coming so quickly.”
Gabriel snapped to attention. “You’re welcome, Lord. What can I do for you?”
“The time has come for The Man in White to be held accountable for his sins and to be permanently removed. His unrepentant ways are set, and he’s crossed the point of no return.”
“I understand, Lord. Do you want me to summon him to appear before you in The Mobile Courts of Heaven?”
“No.”
“What do you need me to do?”
“An example has to be set for Lucifer and all of Hell through The Man in White to instill my fear in them to never again make another abomination like him. There must be a great battle in The Arena in front of all of Heaven and Hell, and at the end, The Man in White must be cast into The Pit of Eternal Suffering in front of Lucifer and his demons for all eternity. That is the only way for this to end.”
“Who do you want to face The Man in White in The Arena then?”
“The Man Wrapped in Darkness. He’s the only one who can.”
“But won’t he struggle with that, Lord?”
“He will, but in the end, he’s the only one who can face The Man in White. One of the many reasons I made him was for this.”
“Is The Man Wrapped in Darkness ready to face The Man in White?”
“Yes, he’s ready. All the training and missions I had him complete for me over the years was to prepare him for this battle. I had hoped The Man in White would relent and turn from his evil ways, but he has refused to repent for the final time.”
“I understand, Lord. What if The Man Wrapped in Darkness fails?”
“If he fails and gets banished to The Pit of Eternal Suffering forever, then the earth will suffer greatly at what Lucifer has planned.”
Chapter Two
Lucifer
Hell
“FETCH ME THE MAN IN White.”
I calmly overlooked my kingdom as I sat upon my throne made of the human bones of the fallen leaders of The One who were now eternally damned. I used their bones to craft my throne as a trophy and permanent reminder to all my underlings that I was not one to be trifled with. As I waited for my champion to make his grand entrance, I drank in the beautiful and grotesque scene in front of me as if it were a perfectly aged fine wine. The sounds and sights of The One’s fallen children being tortured and ravaged by my demonic subjects warmed my heart as it would a parent looking upon their child for the first time. Those people were now my children, and their various moans and shouts played in my ears like a beautifully composed symphony of misery.
Their cries filled my inner being with sheer joy and elation, but it wasn’t the horrifying display in front of me that caused my jubilation. Oh no, it was a revelation which filled me with pure joy, and that secret was mine alone to know at the moment. The knowledge of the identity of one of my greatest adversaries, Paul Luca, was The Man Wrapped in Darkness. The Man, Paul, had caused me copious amounts of frustration over the years and interrupted my best laid plans for the Williams family and their company. However, I had the solution to my problem...The Man in White.
He was one of my greatest champions of Hell, and he, unlike so many others in the past, had never failed me. He was solely committed to the cause of dethroning The One, and he had never shown signs of wavering, as far as I had known. I never figured those two men had so much in common. Both The Man in White and The Man Wrapped in Darkness used to be human and walked amongst the other mortals on the earth, and the best part is they existed at the same time. Well, that is until I properly introduced myself to the one who became The Man in White. There was no finer warrior in all of Hell than he. I thought of him as my own son, but if he
were to ever rebel against me, I would most assuredly kill him—
but still a son, nonetheless.
Due to my fondness of him and his success rate in battle, I had kept The Man in White from engaging The Man Wrapped in Darkness over the years for fear I might lose my fiercest warrior. I wanted to be sure there was a way to defeat The Man Wrapped in Darkness, and after I had searched for some time, I had all but given up. It appeared to me The One had made a flawless soldier with no weakness to exploit, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The Man in White was precisely the one who had always been equipped for the extermination of The Man Wrapped in Darkness—I hadn’t realized it until then. I basked in the joy of the knowledge I now possessed, and I kept it to myself for the time being. The last thing I wanted was to let all of Heaven know I was aware of who Paul Luca really was, and that I had the means of his destruction at my fingertips. I had done the same with the identity of The Man in White by keeping his face covered with the comedy mask one would find in a drama class. I considered the mask to be a cruel joke, for the smiling face would be the last thing The Man in White’s victims would see as he brutally ended their existence on the earth.
I wasn’t the least bit surprised by how quickly word had spread of my defeat at the hands of The Man Wrapped in Darkness, coupled with the fact Alec had given his life to my enemy. All of Hell expected to feel my wrath, and all my subjects did everything they could to not make direct eye contact with me for fear of reprisal. However, all they saw was me seated on my throne, smiling.
All of my demons carefully kept about their work with a greater sense of fear. I knew they worried about incurring my rage upon them, or worse, The Pit of Eternal Suffering, but suddenly, a figure appeared in a bright blinding flash of white light at the base of the stairs to my throne. The Man in White radiated waves of malevolence which caused even the principalities to shudder at his presence.
The hordes of Hell marveled as he appeared, for The Man in White’s ruthlessness and power was only rivaled by my own. I could see their curiosity had peaked by the way I had dressed him in an outfit no one had ever seen on him before. I used my dark powers to change his clothing when he showed up in the bright light. He fancied himself a bit of a showman, much like me. If he’d ever try and outperform me then I would have to destroy him on the mere principle alone.
The Man in White stood a little less than six feet tall, lean, and dressed in the color of his namesake. He wore white combat boots with white tactical-styled pants. He wore a white double-breasted, waist length pea coat which concealed the many daggers he enjoyed piercing his victims with, along with the katana sword placed on his left hip. Finally, he wore a white military officer-styled hat. The white comedy mask completed the ensemble. What many couldn’t see was the reason his hundred-plus-year-old body continued to thrive and exist, for it contained the demon company known as Legion.
When The Man in White gave his life to me on the day of our meeting, I immediately had Legion possess him. Due to being possessed by such a strong and powerful demonic force, The Man in White’s physical body stayed vibrant and alive. Legion had healed his body from a number of catastrophic injuries that would have killed an average man several times over. Broken bones were snapped back in place and quickly fused together, and severe wounds or lacerations immediately closed, all thanks to Legion. I knew Legion rather enjoyed its human host and would do anything for me if it guaranteed a prolonged stay. Although, if The Man in White ever stepped out of line, I would simply remove Legion from his body which would immediately kill him. I loved The Man in White, but I kept a close eye on him. He had never tried to challenge or usurp me like so many other of my demonic underlings had in the past, but it didn’t mean he wouldn’t ever try. Maybe he was biding his time as he looked for the perfect opportunity to strike, and all the while he was sizing me up while he waited. If he was planning something, it wouldn’t work. I had crushed every rebellion my followers tried to rally against me, and The Man in White always led the charge to destroy those insurrections. Maybe he wanted to see what wouldn’t be successful as not to make the same mistakes as his fallen comrades. Some might say I’m paranoid, but I’d call it self-preservation.
However, as I looked upon my champion, I couldn’t help but to think of the similarities he and our adversary shared. Much like the Man Wrapped in Darkness, The Man in White had fully sold his entire life and soul to me and enjoyed fulfilling my will. The Man in White was responsible for some of the most heinous attacks on individuals and on The One’s church throughout his lifetime. He had enticed many leaders in the church away from following the Lord and into extreme moral failures—after which he would expose the person and then lead them to take their own life. By doing so he caused greater damage to those who loved and cared for those individuals. The Man in White had caused many to fall away from seeking the Lord, all from his destruction of their leaders in the church.
After he successfully attacked individual churches, The Man in White’s appetite for brutality had grown, as had his ambitions for greater conquests and challenges. He had caused revivals to cease and the credibility of the miracles to be quickly dismissed. I had also used The Man in White to influence leaders on the world stage. To bring the nations low I wanted to destroy, and elevate the nations I wanted to lift up. The Man in White took the greatest pleasure in killing people in the most gruesome and violent ways. His work in torture and death was truly an art form of its own kind.
“Hello, my child,” I said. “Thank you for coming on such short notice. What do you think of your new attire? Do you like it?”
He looked down at his new covering, and then at his hands in a pair of white leather gloves. He slowly closed and reopened his fist as a way to get a feel for them.
“Yes, my lord,” he said in a harsh and severe tone.
“Good. I’m happy to hear that. It is similar to the foe you will face.”
“Who’s my target?”
“I’m glad you asked. It’s none other than the one you know as The Man Wrapped in Darkness.”
The Man in White’s eyes opened wide and he immediately changed his focus from breaking in his new gloves to me seated upon my throne. “The Man Wrapped in Darkness? I have waited a long time to face him, but you have forbidden me from warring with him. If I may ask, why are you allowing me to face him now, and how do you know what he dresses like? No demon has seen what The Man Wrapped in Darkness actually looks like through that ridiculous cloud.”
I chuckled as I stood and then immediately teleported myself and The Man in White into my private meeting room. The Man in White didn’t flinch at the feat, for he had experienced it on a number of occasions. He had come to expect that display of showmanship. I secured the room personally by my dark gifts to only allow me and anyone I personally wanted to bring into the room. That ensured no one would be able to listen in on any of the things I wanted kept hidden from the prying eyes and ears of my underlings.
I patterned the room to resemble a board room like one would find only the most powerful of people using on the earth. I had a long black marble table to sit at with chairs made of human bones and skulls on each side. I had become quite partial to having all my furniture made from the bones of those I had destroyed. The walls ran with the blood that came from the constant human sacrifices that took place on earth from my followers. It cast a mesmerizing red glow in the room. The blood-made walls were also adorned with elegant and vibrant tapestries which depicted me overthrowing The One from his throne and beheading him while the whole world watched.
The last one had me sitting on The One’s throne, as the masses worshipped and praised me. Those last two were particular favorites of mine. Sometimes I stared for hours at the one of me sitting on the throne, elevated above The One’s, with him dead at my feet. When all of his angels bowed down and worshiped me, and when that glorious day finally came, I would cast all of Heaven itself into the Lake of Fire.
My thoughts retu
rned to the present as I stood across the long black table from The Man in White. “I don’t mind you asking at all about the timing of your battle with The Man Wrapped in Darkness. The answer to your questions is simple. I know the identity of The Man Wrapped in Darkness. I have seen him without his covering, and he is someone you were born to destroy. What I am about to share with you is not to be spoken of outside of this room. Our enemy must not find out what we are up to, my son.”
“I won’t say a word.”
“The Man Wrapped in Darkness is a man from your past named Paul Luca,” I sat in my high-backed chair and watched The Man in White’s reaction as he processed the news.
Seriousness took hold of The Man in White, and his eyes darted back and forth as he tried to wrap his mind around the revelation.
“How is this possible? Frederick Williams killed him, and his family and burned down the church containing their bodies.”
“Oh, it is very possible I assure you. Apparently, our enemy gave Paul his body back. How he did that feat is not relevant at this time. What is important is we know who The Man Wrapped in Darkness is. Now, armed with that information, we can finally destroy him.”
The Man in White struggled to hold back his anger upon hearing the name of the enemy I’d assigned him to kill. “I see you’re struggling. Tell me, what’s bothering you?”
Every muscle in his body tensed. “Killing an immortal is not an easy thing to do, and it takes time and careful planning to lure them into a situation where they can be destroyed. The last one I had to kill took a lot of painstaking and tedious work.”
I grinned. “You have destroyed an immortal before, and I know you can do it again. I know the name Paul Luca has significant meaning to you. You have heard of his accident?”
“Your demons talk too much, so when I heard that poor excuse of a demon, Reviler, had a man killed by the same name I had to go see for myself. I rushed to the absurdly named place called Williams Point to Paul’s funeral, but the picture I saw bore little resemblance to the Paul I knew, so I dismissed it as nonsense and went back to my assignment.”
